A "faithful record of events" according to the author, of the rebellion against the imposition of a poll tax by the Natal government, led by Bambatha KaMancinza. The author was Aide-de-Campe to Colonel Duncan McKenzie, the commander of the colonial forces that suppressed the uprising.

Rebound hardcover published 1907 by Longmans, Green and Co., and J.C. Juta and Co., that has the original red cloth over new red leather with gilt spine titling printed on a black leather square. Name of a previous owner dated April 1907 on front endpaper. Some scattered foxing throughout. Collated.
