Two volumes in one. Bound in later full calf with new end papers. Some light scratchings to the boards. Top fifth of the half title has been cut off. The page has then been re-backed with a full sheet. Neat repair to the inner edge of the half title and title pages. The first part is age toned and there is some off setting from leaves being pressed in the book. The sixteen plates are in very good condition with some light tide marks to the upper edge. Very rare FIRST EDITION of both parts. GARRISON-MORTON 3675 & 3676. "Hunter was the first to study the teeth in a scientific manner, and the first to recommend complete removal of the pulp in filling them." -Garrison p. 348. "This classical work revolutionised the practice of dentistry and provided a basis for later dental research. Hunter introduced the classes cuspids, bicuspids, molars, and incisors; he also devised appliances for the correction of malocclusion. In the [Practical treatise...] he included instructions with regard to the operation of tooth trans-plantation. " (G-M). Printed at John Hunter's Private Press
