This is Rehna Cloete's alternative account of an expedition described her husband, Stuart Cloete, in his book The African Giant.
"This is the reasonably accurate story of a girl who got a great big diamond as an anniversary present. It was a rough diamond in the human shape of a White Hunter [with safari attached] - the guide, philosopher, and friend of anyone unwary enough to embark on an African safari. ."
"Tiny" came to new knowledge of herself (unbelievably brave and greedy), of the White Hunter's Code (the client rides on the side with the rhino dents), of a husband's love (he'd dare any danger to save the film in her camera). There could be no nicer husband, she says.
" There could be no nicer or more capable hunter than Bill. There could even be no nicer or more exciting trip, now that it's over."
