Its aim is to give visitors a short description of the history of this house of God which serves as a museum. It is the oldest church building in South Africa, which stands today exactly as it was built in 1743 by order of the Baron van Imhoff, Governor-General of the Dutch East india Company, for the colony in Het Land van Waveren in the Roodezandvallei, by which name Tulbagh valley was then known."
