The Omen (2006)
Moore's Omen stars Liev Schreiber and Julia Stiles in the roles first played by the late Gregory Peck and Lee Remick. Wealthy diplomat Robert Thorn (Schreiber) cannot bear to tell his wife Kate (called Kathy in the original and played here by Stiles) that her baby was stillborn so he accepts an offer made by a priest at the Italian hospital where she gave birth to secretly adopt an orphaned infant and pass him off as his true son. We all know what the road to hell is paved with and this is literally true in Robert Thorn's case as that child, named Damien (Seamus Davey-Fitzpatrick), turns out to be the Anti-Christ. Despite all the signs pointing to the dark nature of their child, the Thorns are painfully slow to realize the danger Damien poses to them. Kate, the first to suspect Damien is evil, is soon fighting to not lose her sanity and later her life. Robert is ultimately persuaded by the mad Father Brennan (Pete Postlethwaite) and photographer Keith Jennings (David Thewlis, taking over from David Warner), both of whom have their own reasons for becoming involved in Thorn's plight. Standing in Thorn's way and by Damien's side is his creepy nanny, Mrs. Baylock (Rosemary's Baby's Mia Farrow). Like Abraham being called upon by God to slay his son Isaac, Robert Thorn ¿ the U.S. ambassador to Great Britain and a man seemingly destined to become President someday ¿ must kill his child in order to prevent Satan's spawn from fulfilling his earthly destiny. he Omen 666 (USA) (working title) MPAA: Rated R for disturbing violent content, graphic images and some language.
