The Rare VELD POND of 1902: NGC graded MS 61 (Mint State)

This beautiful coin was sold in 2010 at the January Heritage Signature World Coin Auction (#3008) for $34,500.00 (R500 000.00)

It was described as follows: “South Africa: Republic gold Veld Pond 1902, KM11, MS61 NGC, struck during the siege at Pilgrim's Rest in the last year of the Boer War. One of 986 pieces produced, and clearly one of the finest to have survived”

The reverse of the slab still has the original Heritage lot-sticker (#22923) on the back.
