Not every British reader will find the author's presentation of certain events very palatable, yet this is an interesting story, and particularly to those who took part in the Battle. The period from October, 1940 to August, 1942, this was the period in which the U-boats achieved their maximum successes and inflicted on the UK the destruction of very large numbers of ships and cargoes and an even more terrible loss of lives.
