Godfrey Collett farmed at Katkop near Cradock from 1923. He spent his whole working life on Katkop except for 4 years and 4 months during World War II. He joined Die Middellandse Regiment, which was deployed in Egypt. In June 1942 the whole regiment except one company was captured at Tobruk. Godfrey spent the rest of the war in POW camps in North Africa, Italy and Germany. He died in 2009.
