A handsome 1950 reprint of the second edition of The Shot Gun by T. D. S. Purdey and Capt. J. A. Purdey, issued as part of The Sportsman's Library series by Adam & Charles Black. Written by members of the famous Purdey gunmaking family, this classic work covers the shotgun, shooting technique and sporting use, and includes eight photographic plates.
Bound in the original green cloth with gilt lettering to the spine and front board. The Shot Gun itself remains in very good condition, clean and firmly bound. The original dust jacket is present and moderately worn, with chipping and tears to the extremities, particularly at the head of the spine and corners. The green cloth boards show scattered yellow spotting. There is a prior ownership inscription in ink on the inner cover, and the text block edges are foxed, though the contents remain clean and attractive.
Published by Adam & Charles Black, London, 1950. Second edition, reprint. The Shot Gun is a desirable mid-century sporting title, especially appealing to collectors of shooting, firearms and The Sportsman's Library series. The second edition was originally issued in 1947 and reprinted in 1950.
Condition - Very Good
