Hardcover published by Basil Blackwell, 1947. The card jacket is unclipped, but has several small chips and tears mainly to the spine, that is also sunned and stained. The boards are clean, square and undamaged. Illustrated paste-downs in the front depict a map titled "Italia", and those at the back depict a map titled the Roman Empire At The Death Of Augustus. All pages are clean and unmarked, as are both fold-out star maps at the end of the book. This translation was made by the L.A.S. Jermyn "during internment in Changi Goal and Sime Road Camp, Singapore, February, 1942 to September, 1945, and now completely revised, with the addition of Preface, Notes, Appendix, Glossary and Maps", and is "dedicated to the memory of my only son, Peter, and all his friends who died with him in the Second World War somewhere in the Pacific."
