Hardcover with dustjacket in good condition. There is some sunning to the spine. Signed by JD Skinner. A very scarce title.

This monograph is a general review of the available literature on the springbok, Antodorcas marsupialis. It includes observations made by some of the first European explorers, as well as descriptions of modern behavioural, physiological and morphological studies on this unusual antelope. Special attention has been given to the adaptability of the springbok to arid environments with unpredictable resources of food and water. The springbok can serve as a promising heuristic model for exemplifying how evolution compromises conflicting natural selection pressures.
