Black cloth with blind stamped Wilkinson dagger with silver gilt blade on front cover, titled in silver gilt on the spine, bright red front and rear endpapers, 221 pages. Dust jacket design by Richard Chopping with Wilkinson dagger, red carnation, burnt paper and burnt matchstick design on front cover, titled in black on front cover and spine, price of 15s on front dust jacket flap. Book interior is in good condition. Dust jacket is a bit worn. The title page has the extremely scarce variant, a dropped QUAD mark, the well known, but quite rare, printing error from the first run, on the title page of this book (where there is a thin black line that appears between the E and M in FLEMING). The 1st print run was 30 000 copies. In 1952, author Ian Fleming bought Glidrose Publications Limited, named after its founders John Gliddon and Norman Rose, after completing his first James Bond novel, Casino Royale; He assigned most of his rights in Casino Royale, and the works which followed it to Glidrose. - The basis for the movie of the same name that starred Roger Moore as James Bond, Barbara Bach as Major Anya Amasova (Agent XXX), Curd Jurgens as Karl Stromberg, Richard Kiel as Jaws, et al - This book is a very good investment.
