This book presents a unique collection of photographs tracing the history of the Stockton & Darlington Railway - the world's first steam-powered public railway. Issued to help celebrate the 150th anniversary of the line, it includes pictures from the mid-1800s onward when it was operated first as a separate Committee (1865-76) and then under complete North Eastern control (1876-1922). The photos cover a wide variety of subjects, from S&D stock certificates, statues of leading organizers, railway structures and track, as well as the rolling stock. 96 pages.
