Published by Andre Deutsch, 1971, hardcover, illustrated, 267 pages, condition: as new.

A fascinating and articulate account of the desperate operations of Luftwaffe pilots when they knew that the war was lost for them but were still being criticised and goaded by out-of-touch political leaders in Berlin. As an honourary member of the Luftwaffe Fighter Pilots' Association, I have had the privilege of meeting many of these veterans, been able to discuss their side of the war and to learn how much we had in common. I was not fortunate to meet General Steinhoff but these gripping reminiscences and his views on the conduct of the war are well worth reading for pilots,non-pilots or anyone interested in the history of World War Two. Fully recommended.
