A fascinating insight to the World prior to the Cold War, with excellently produced maps on a grand scale with an extensive index in all volumes.
Great for the collectors and historians.
Every volume of The Times Atlas has its own index-gazetteer section of places names, showing the latitudes and longitudes, with a quick and easy system of map location. The maps are printed by the process known as photo-offset lithography. The papers used for the maps and text, as well as the binding materials, have all been made specially for The Times Atlas after critical tests for suitability. 
All of the Maps are mounted on Calico Binding hinges for strength and to open flat on the pages.
Condition: Good, each Volume has a dust jacket, Vol 5 dust jacket is marked, some rubbing and signs of wear on the jackets. The Atlases are all intact, no loose binding. The volumes have been very well cared for. No foxing or browning / tanning on very clean pages. No Inscriptions at all in any of the volumes.
