This is the first title in the Hardy Boys Mystery Series, originally released in 1927. The copy on offer is a later postwar edition, bound in tan cloth with brown title lettering. It retains the complete 214-page text and features the well-known misprint on page 31, line 12 (t alking), which appears only in early printings using the original plates.
The advertisement at the front lists titles up to #32 The Crisscross Shadow (1953) placing this edition in the mid-1950s.
