In June, 1959 near the small town of Clinton in south-western Ontario, a twelve-year-old girl was raped and brutally murdered. A fourteen-year-old boy, Steven Truscott, was charged with the crime. He was tried in adult court, convicted, and sentenced to hang. His sentence, as is customary in Canada, was subsequently commuted to life imprisonment, and now he is in Collins Bay Penitentiary at Kingston. This book is the story of his trial.
