Discover antique, classic and newfound relics in this amazing collection of automobiles. For serious collectors or curious beginners. The automobile is not only regarded as having shaped America, its birth and early life can also be seen as a microcosm of the history of the 20th century - often referred to as the American century.

John Carroll has long been a fan of street rods, especially rods based on the 1932 Ford.  He has also written extensively on American automotive specialties, including choppers, Harley-Davidson and Indian motorcycles, Jeeps and tractors, collaborating with photographer Garry Stuart on many of these projects.

Garry Stuart has been photographing cars and motorcycles professionally for 20 years, and his pictures have appeared in magazines and books throughout the world.  He has met many interesting characters along the way, and has listened to their stories with interest.  Much of this anecdotal material, gathered when he was taking these pictures, was personally related to him by Californian hot-rodders themselves and appears in the latter part of this book.
