A new un-read softcover book. Large format.
1910: South Africa is formed in the aftermath of the Anglo-Boer War from fusing the two Boer republics and two British Colonies.
This book is for anyone who has an interest in medals related to South Africa and/or the Second Anglo Boer War which ended with the treaty of Vereeniging on 31st May 1902.
Within that treaty was a commitment to self-rule for the former Boer republics.
Those who had recently been on opposite sides of a long and bitter conflict met and hammered out a constitution that resulted in the Union of South Africa - the borders of the present republic of South Africa.
A medal was awarded to 580 of those who had rendered services in achieving this. This book is the record of who they were, the challenges they faced and the compromises made.
Pages ix - 151 including References.
