Non toxic.  Water based gilding adhesive.  Use on porous & non porous surfaces including wood, plaster, plastic, glass, metal, leather and canvas.

The age old process of metal leaf gilding can add a new dimension to the appearance of paintings, furniture, sculpture, leather goods, metal work, glass, picture frames and much more.  The effects and outcomes achievable are limited only by your imagination.

The work surface should be clean and free from dirt, dust or oil.  

Using a soft brush apply a thin, even coat of Velvet Attic - Vintage Leafing Size or Mont Marte Leafing Size to the area to be gilded.  Wait for the Leafing Size to turn clear & tacky. Use latex gloves or put baby powder on your hands to avoid scratching and tearing the gilding leaf.  Lift up a single sheet of leaf & lay it across the sized surface.  Take a soft dry brush and gently smooth the leaf onto the surface so that it adheres well.  Brush off the excess leaf.  For best results seal the leaf with Velvet Attic Vintage Varnish (Matte, Satin or Gloss) as the leaf will tarnish if left unprotected.
