Condition grades for the disk
Mint (M): The CD is in brand-new, flawless, and often factory-sealed condition. It has never been played.
Near Mint (NM): The disc is opened but has no visible marks or scratches. It looks and plays perfectly, as if it were new.
Very Good Plus (VG+): This is a well-cared-for item with only minor, light surface marks or scuffs that do not affect playback. These are often only visible under close inspection with a light source.
Very Good (VG): The disc shows more signs of use, with some visible scratches and scuffs, but it plays perfectly without any issues. This is a common grade for average used CDs.
Good (G): The disc has multiple scratches and signs of heavy use, but it is guaranteed to play through without skipping. Surface noise may be present, particularly during quiet passages.
Acceptable (A) / Fair (F): The disc is heavily scratched and visibly worn, but it still plays properly. The risk of playback errors increases, but it should function.
Poor (P): The disc is badly scratched, cracked, or otherwise damaged to the point that it will likely not play or skip repeatedly.
Reconditioned (R) Removing scratches and buffing the cd
Condition grades for the packaging
The jewel case and any paper inserts (cover art, liner notes, booklets) are graded separately from the disc.
Mint (M): The packaging is in perfect, factory-fresh condition with no marks or wear.
Near Mint (NM): The packaging is almost perfect, with only very slight handling marks. There are no creases, scuffs, or tears.
Very Good Plus (VG+): Shows minor signs of handling, such as light creases on the booklet or minor scuffs on the case. All inserts should be present.
Very Good (VG): The inserts have more noticeable wear, such as folding, discoloration, or small tears. The case may have more significant scuffing but should not be cracked.
Good (G): The packaging shows heavy wear, is dirty, or has significant damage to the inserts. It may have writing on it or missing elements.
Acceptable (A): The packaging is damaged, marked, or stained. Inserts may be marked, torn, or missing entirely.
Disk covers are replaceable.
