“The author has taken a true story, meticulously researched, about Major Alan Wilson and the doomed men of the "Shangani Patrol" and written it as a gripping, action-packed novel. Without giving too much away, it is the story of how, in December 1893, through a series of miscalculations on the part of their commander, 34 men of the BSAC are pitted against 3,000 Matabele warriors. In Rhodesia this event was known as "Wilson's Last Stand" and it held a similar place in their national consciousness as our own "Custer's Last Stand".
