The author, a missionary, came to South Africa in 1883. Material for this work was collected largely by personal contact with the Zulu over the years between 1883 and 1935 and supported by research into the writings of early travellers, explorers, adventurers amongst other. Previous owner’s details on front free end page with tape residue on both feps. Browning to page edges. Light edgewear to the boards with fraying to the corners and bumping to the spine edges. Edge-wear to the dust jacket, especially at the spine edges and corners, worn at the folds, grubby with marks on the spine. 2 x 2cm closed tears to the corners of the front panel at the fold.
