First edition (1941) red cloth hardcover. Cloth boards show general fading, rubbing and soiling, with moderate fading to the spine and light bumping and wear to the corners and spine ends. The text block edges are age-toned with light soiling. Internally, the book is complete and tightly bound. There is moderate foxing to the endpapers, title page and scattered pages throughout. Evidence of an old label or bookplate removal is present on the copyright page, leaving a surface abrasion and a short closed tear. No dust jacket.
