In the 2014 reboot of the Thief series, Garret, a master thief, wakes up after a magical ritual gone wrong and finds the City he once knew ravaged by a mysterious plague. The Gloom sickness has turned the populace into mobs against tyrannical Baron, who rules with an iron grip. Garret, now with little memory of his past, must navigate the City to uncover the truth behind the plague and the Baro's rule. He must also find a cure for the Gloom and the Baron's iron rule, all while dealing with the consequences of his past actions and the new challenges he faces in the city.
