Historical significance: This is a Sterling silver salver. Its a presentation piece given to Lieutenant Colonel L. R. G. Kelly, M.C. 1937. It is signed by the North Somerset Yeomanry Sergeant's Mess, some of which have historical significancerecipient: Lieutenant Colonel L. R. G. Kelly, M.C. The "M.C." stands for Military Cross, an award for gallantry during active military operations against the enemy. The North Somerset Yeomanry was a part-time cavalry regiment of the British Army from 1798 to 1967. It maintained order in Somerset in the days before organised police forces, and supplied volunteers to fight in the Second Boer War. And then to the East Rand Great Dane Club
