It is signed by the North Somerset Yeomanry Sergeant's Mess, some of which have historical significancerecipient: Lieutenant Colonel L. R. G. Kelly, M.C. The "M.C." stands for Military Cross, an award for gallantry during active military operations against the enemy. The North Somerset Yeomanry was a part-time cavalry regiment of the British Army from 1798 to 1967.
