The story of Thomas William Bowler (1812-1869), his life and works, with a catalogue of extant paintings. Bowler was a self-taught British landscape painter who started out as an assistant to Thomas Maclear (later Sir Thomas) at the Observatory at the Cape of Good Hope. He depicted some 35 years of the Cape's history in landscapes and seascapes. With a commentary on the Bowler prints by A Gordon-Brown FRGS. This book is numbered copy no 840.
