A THOMAS GERMANY TEAPOT IN THEIR FAMOUS MEDAILLON PATTERN WHITE WITH GOLD TRIMS TO SPOUT, HANDLE, AND LID WITH ROUND MEDAILLON FINIAAL. IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.
Thomas Porcelain, a German company, was founded in 1904 specialising in contemporary white porcelain. Thomas product designs have consistently represented contemporary simplicity. Thomas' most famous pattern is Medaillon which is still produced in small quantities. Their Gold and Platinum items are hard to find, like this Medallion Tea Pot with the Gold Band pattern.
Tang Po Shaped Teapot is inspired by Tang Po Zi, also called oval bed or foot warmer, made of copper, tin or porcelain, with screw cap. The body of teapot is full, and the wall is graceful. The entire teapot appears to be noble and simple.
SIZE: 12.5CM WIDE FROM SPOUT TO HANDLE 11CM HIGH
CONDITION: NO CHIPS. NO CRACKS. GOOD CONDITION. GOLD GILDING STILL BEAUTIFUL.
MARKINGS: THOMAS IN A POT MARK WITH GERMANY UNDERNEATH THIS MARK WAS USED BETWEEN 1959 AND 1977 THE VARIOUS DOTS (TWO IN THE POT ONE TO RIGHT AND ONE BELOW GERMANY) INDICATED AN EXACT YEAR DATE
THOMAS PORZELLANFABRIK (1904-1977): Fritz Thomas founded the Porzellanfabrik Thomas & Ens in Marktredwitz in 1904 in the German Franconian region. Already in 1908 the firm was taken over by Rosenthal. In 1960 the production in Marktredwitz was discontinued. The new plant at Kulm in Speichersdorf was opened as a replacement. It is still under the roof of the Rosenthal Group.
