I was recently talking to a friend who had relocated near San Francisco and who had never before been to that city. I was trying to summarize my various feelings about my favorite city and found it hard to explain. The lights, the mood, the flying flags and windswept wisps of fog, the bustling people and quaint bits of architecture that are San Francisco cant adequately be put into words. Perhaps thats why I keep trying to capture a bit of the charm of the City By The Bay on canvas!

Im stunned. Ive just seen something astonishingly beautiful and unexpected. I came upon a half hidden trail overlooking the bay, and followed it down, through a dense eucalyptus forest leading to a small beach. A fisherman there told me, Few know about this place, but its like nothing else in the world. As he spoke, a dense fog lifted, and before me stood the majestic arch of the Golden Gate Bridge.

How well I remember riding the cable car on my first visit to San Francisco, and glimpsing the magnificent panorama of the bay. I remember the famous Ghirardelli Chocolate sign, the vibrant activity on Fishermans Wharf, the dramatic presence of distant Alcatraz Island. But most of all, I remember the magnificent bay.

ABOUT THE THOMAS KINKADE (1958-2012): William Thomas Kinkade III was an American painter of popular realistic, pastoral, and idyllic subjects. He is notable for achieving success during his lifetime with the mass marketing of his work as printed reproductions and other licensed products by means of the Thomas Kinkade Company.
He was inspired not by fame and fortune, but by the simple act of painting straight from the heart, putting on canvas the natural wonders and images that moved him most. It was this dedication and singular-minded focus on the ultimate goal of Sharing the Light that made Thomas Kinkade, a simple boy with a brush from the small country town of Placerville, California the most-collected living artist of his time.
