Thoughts on South Africa, Africana Reprint Library Volume Ten, 1976 facsimile reproduction of the 1923 edition, with new foreword and illustrations. New colour tissue-guarded frontispiece. Many illustrations. Pages [i-vi]vii-xxii pp[1-6]7-398. Dust Jacket in excellent condition, jacket illustration from an oil by Thomas Baines, near Grahamstown, 1849,  booksellers label - Thorold's Africana Books -condition: as new.

INSCRIBED" To RAYMOND LOUW  , in appreciation of what you did for us and for South Africa as Editor of the Mail, (signed) Peter Brown." June 1977. (Peter McKenzie Brown (24 December 1924 2004) was a founding member of the Liberay Party and succeeded  as its national chairman in 1958.)

Raymond Louw , editor of the Rand Daily Mail, recruited black journalists, covered news from the black townships, and exposed the corruption and brutality of the white oligarchy. The Sowetan described rhe RDM as the first white newspaper to regard blacks as human beings.

Originally published in 1923 amd written a few years before the Boer War, these eight essays and four appendices (notes) are concerned with the nature of South Africa and the relationships between Boers, Englishmen, Black and Brown people and the problem involved in forming a harmonious and united nation. Olive Schreiner foresees the developments that led to the Boer War.
