Tillandsia caput-medusae, an attractive air-plant from Central America/Mexico. Thick, tapering, twisted leaves covered in small grey hairs. Flowers in summer, dark pink to violet in colour.
Grow in a sunny or semi-shaded spot but avoid the hot scorching mid-day sun if possible. Wet the plants 2 to 3 times a week (less in winter) and try and maintain a fair amount of humidity (50-80%) Grow them mounted on a piece of bark, driftwood or directly on a tree. If you want to pot them you can, but only use a very course, airy, open mixture like cocco peat or orchid mix (see photo below) no need for large pots, the smallet the better in this case.
