Tillandsia juncifolia, an air-plant (epiphyte) from the Southern parts of the USA (extending into the northern parts of Latin America) These plants form large rosettes with threadlike leaves. This species has violet colour flowers which are born on large spikes coming out of the centre of the rosettes.
Cultivation: Best grown in a semi-shaded area, they can handle some direct sun but not the intense mid-day sun. Wet the leaves regularly during summer (at least three times a week or more) In winter they can be kept on the dry side but still appreciate being sprayed on a nice sunny day every now and then. These plants require a fair amount of humidity and combine very well with Orchids, Palms, Bromelias etc. They are great for mounting on trees!
Plants on sale are mature plants of about 20cm. in lenght.
