An underinflated tire can't maintain its shape and becomes flatter than intended while in contact with the road. If a vehicle’s tires are underinflated by only 6 psi it could lead to tire failure. Additionally, the tire’s tread life could be reduced by as much as 25%.

Lower inflation pressure will allow the tire to deflect (bend) more as it rolls. This will build up internal heat, increase rolling resistance and cause a reduction in fuel economy of up to 5%. You would experience a significant loss of steering precision and cornering stability. While 6 psi (6psi = 41KPa =4.1 bar) doesn’t seem excessively low, remember, it usually represents about 20% of the tire’s recommended pressure.

This product is for monitoring tire pressure: if the pressure is 10% less than required, the sight glass of the monitor cap will show red, otherwise it will show normal which is green.

  •  Full green indicates the pressure is correct

  •  Partial Red/Yellow indicates that the tire is under-inflated by as little as 10%

  •  Full red indicates that the tire is under-inflated by 25%

Important: This device ONLY check your tire UNDER pressure, it does not check your tire OVER inflated. This pressure gauge is intended for pressures up to 240KPa so if you normally put 220KPa a small red would be visible.

Make sure you tighten the valve cap tight so the seal stops air from leaking otherwise you will end with a flat tire. Also after installation check for air leaks and after driving about 50km check again for air leaks.
