Title: "Tipping Point"
Original Painting done by Contemporary Artist Stella Pelser (1970-
Size: 1500 x 1200 mm
Medium Acrylic: painted on Stretched Artist Canvas
Artist Description:
This painting was inspired by the plight of the African Rhino. Adult African Rhinos have no natural predators except for man.
As an artist, I wish to add to the global voice against Rhino poaching by creating a visual message that speaks to the heart of the viewer.
In my painting the adult Rhino represents the Rhino today at present. The young Rhino in the background represents the future of our Rhinos.
They survived through millennia to evolve into this magnificent, mystical almost spiritual creature which is part of our precious heritage.
Their bodies full of lines and marks, similar to the contour lines on a map and reminding me of the very earth they came from - Africa in living form.
Their survival is at a Tipping Point and the delicate orange tip butterfly in the foreground represents their threaten state.
