The two children were traveling with their grandfather who, as a young man, had served as an officer in the Italian Cavalry in Milan. The city appeared enormous in their infant eyes, exciting and full of bright lights, forever pulsating like stars in the night-sky. While the pair walked through the streets of Brera to the dome of Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, from every corner the summer air oozed with aromas and scents.
