To The River`s End - Green, Lawrence

A description of the country through which the Orange (Gariep) river flows in the lower part of its course, and some of the historical events that took place there, and the people who took part in them. It has several chapters on the southern Kalahari, including the Kalahari Gemsbok National Park, the stories of the lost city of the Kalahari, and the shortlived Baster Republic of Mier. It has good descriptions of the Augrabies falls, some of the diamond areas in southern Namibia, the outlaw known as Scotty Smith, and several other interesting character sketches, with the main charactersa being the river itself, and the deserts through which it flows.
