Many people have said to me 'It must be wonderful travelling about as you do, meeting interesting people and visiting such fascinating places'. And I won't deny that it is, but there have been times when I realized that we were having to make sacrifices; that being part of an established community with a continuity of personal relationships was essential to the wellbeing of children. And so we decided some years ago to put down more than superficial roots.

We achieved it but it was not easy. When your have lived as exciting and varied a life as we have you feel yourself a citizen of the world; you feel strongly about things to do with humanity, not nationalities, and come to believe that 'too low they build who build beneath the stars.'
