This is the first improved tomato variety in the world that has anthocyanins in its fruit. It was developed at Oregon State University in 2012 and is high in anti-oxidants. It is a really deep purple tomato that can be as black as eggplants. They are ripe when their colour changes from shiny blue-purple to dull purple-brown.
