1980's Tomy tutor play computer. Made in Singapore.
Well before the days every household had a personal computer, children were fascinated with the onset of technology. Believe it or not but this little Tomy computer was very popular and considered to be very realistic! The operation is mechanical, so no need for batteries! The screen has a sawtooth texture, creating the appearance of movement with the rolling graphic cards behind the surface (ie. the plane spins its propeller, the clown juggles, etc.). Pushing the red button on the right scrolls up a line of black blocks. By pressing any of the keys the black blocks drop down to reveal pictures, words, ABC's, 123's and more!! Once the picture is loaded, pushing the space bar makes the image look like it is moving. The knob on the right rewinds the screen. There is a surprisingly large number of screens inside. Without all the bangs and whistles of electronic toys this little pc's simplicity is its charm!
The toy is in very good vintage condition, with some wear consistent with its age. All features in good working order. Weight: 658 g, dimensions: 18 cm × 18 cm
