Mini Router Bit

Shape: Keyhole
Shank Diameter: Ø3.2mm
Tip Diameter: Ø7.9mm

This Mini Keyhole Router Bit is a specialized precision tool designed for woodworkers, decorators, and hobbyists who
need a professional mounting solution for small-scale projects. Featuring a 7.9mm large cutting diameter and a
standard 3.2mm (1/8') shank, this bit is perfectly sized for use with high-speed rotary tools and miniature router
attachments. It is the ideal choice for creating discrete, 'blind' hanging slots on the back of picture frames,
small plaques, or decorative wall hangings.

The unique geometry of this bit allows it to perform a two-stage cut in a single pass. It plunges into the material
to create a localized entry hole and then, as it moves along the workpiece, it carves out a wider T-slotted internal
chamber. This results in a keyhole-shaped recess that securely captures the head of a screw or nail, allowing your
project to hang flush against the wall without visible hardware.

Because of its T-slot design, this bit is also incredibly useful for technical hobby applications beyond hanging. It
can be used to create sliding tracks for adjustable jigs or to mill interlocking 'T' channels in architectural
models and wooden puzzles. The high-quality cutting edges are engineered to clear chips efficiently from the
enclosed horizontal slot, which helps prevent heat buildup and ensures a smooth, snag-free finish in both hardwoods
and softwoods.

Built for stability and precision, the bit's balanced construction minimizes vibration even at the high RPMs
required by rotary tools. Whether you are adding a functional mounting point to a custom jewelry box or milling an
internal track for a mechanical model, this mini keyhole bit provides the specialized 'hidden' joinery capabilities
required for high-definition craftsmanship and professional-grade finishing.

Fitting the tool bit

The shank of the rotary cutter is securely locked in place by fitting
it in the corresponding collet or making use of a keyless chuck.

For improved engraving accuracy, make use of a flexible
shaft connected to the rotary engraver.

Rotation speed:

Most rotary tools have the benefit to adjust the rotation speed. Many tool bits that fit in rotary tools have a maximum speed setting. This can normally be found on the packaging.

All materials react differently to speed and will need the tool bit to rotate slower.
It is recommended to start using accessories on the slower speed first, before increasing the speed as needed.

The diameter of the tool bit fitted also determines the rotation speed. The larger the diameter, the slower the speed. If the speed is set too high, it could bend the shank/shaft resulting in injury.
