This is a translation into Afrikaans of a 1509 Latin essay of Desiderius Erasmus. It was early on translated into English as The Praise of Folly, and became a classic text of the Renaissance. Erasmus actually penned the work in under one week. He was a guest of Sir Thomas More in England at the time.
