This is an original 18th-century pewter dinner plate attributed to the prominent London pewterers Townsend & Compton, active between 1784 and 1802. The plate features a set of four hallmarks including a horse and a cross, both symbols used by the Townsend family of pewterers. It also bears the stamped makers mark "Townsend & Compton", which was commonly used on export wares during their period of operation.
