1d AND 3d OVERPRINTED "V.R.I." WITH BOTH STAMPS DISPLAYING DROPPED "I" (BY 0.75mm)
SG STATES : "The error "V.I.R." occurred on R. 4/4 in the first batch of stamps to be overprinted - a few sheets of the 1/2d, 2d and 4d. The error was then corrected and stamps showing it are very rare. The corrected overprint shows the "I" dropped by 0.75mm. this variety is know on all values apart from the £5, but was later corrected" [emphasis mine].
