Hardcover published by Argus Printing and Publishing Company 1902, no jacket, and in very poor external condition, due to liquid damage and ink / paint stains. The boards are extremely marked and stained and damaged, with some liquid having leached into the end-papers, and also to the perimeters of all other pages, that however remain completely legible. The binding is very weak, with a length of the spine internally having come adrift of the text block from the bottom up. The fold-out map "The Goldfields of the Transvaal" is present, with staining to the top edge, and a long tear up one of the folds. All fold-out charts are present at the end of the book (as per Table of Contents Part II), though are also stained along the edges, and some have been mis-folded.
