Hardcover without jacket in good condition for its age. The spine shows mild sunning. Original cloth boards show some discolouration and rubbing. there understandably age toning to the pages and a previous owner stamp present. Frontispiece is tissue guarded. Page edges show the deckling of cut page edges. A great copy of a classic by one of the early intrepid female explorers.

Mary Henrietta Kingsley (1862Ð1900) was an English ethnographer, scientific writer, and explorer whose travels throughout West Africa and resulting work helped shape European perceptions of both African cultures and British colonialism in Africa.
