I found this in a kitbag rapped in the uniform, I have no proof that its 100 % original item but it was in kit bag and all the items inside of that era. ...and with a military compass marked and 1943 which I have on bob new listings and not being sold with this item,it says it was made by Italian prisoner of war , " Italian pow 11-8-945 with a name of the prisoner" ,I would say it would have been made for a Officer/Guard at the camp Leaving the camp, as good bye or thanking you,but I don"t know,its a guess ,It"s very old ,2 bit of the wood missing as shown in second photo above that I can see,they made from things given them in the camp to keep them busy,this is late in the war 45 ,they was returned home 1946 so I was told,
