Trilobite Fossil

Size:  10cm x 3cm approximately - LARGE specimen

100% Authentic trilobite. Proetidae family trilobite. They are found encased in hard limestone and was prepared using mechanical tools to expose their detailed shell.

Trilobites were a diverse group of extinct marine arthropods. They first appeared in the fossil record around 521 million years ago (Early Cambrian) and went extinct approximately 250 million years ago during the Permian mass extinction. They were one of the most successful of the early animals on our planet with over 25,000 species currently described species. Their hard exoskeleton or shell ensured that they left an excellent fossil record.

This specimen is in overall good condition with no repairs or parts glued and comes with the display holder.
