Dit is Trompie se laaste kwartaal op laerskool en hy is moeg daarvoor om altyd in almal se slegte boekies te wees. Die Boksombende se Grootkaptein besluit dit het tyd geword om goeie dade te doen, maar dis glad nie so maklik soos wat dit klink nie! Sy een goedbedoelde poging na die ander loop skeef en Trompie moet leer om baie mooi verskoning te vra. Dan is daar 'n ongeluk en hy beland in die hospitaal. Sy ouers stuur hom Durban toe om by sy pa se suster te gaan aansterk en die treinrit soontoe is 'n groot avontuur. Hy is sￃﾳ bly om by die see te wees dat hy in die groot stad verdwaal, maar uiteindelik kom hy darem by sy tannie uit. Wanneer hy terug in Kwaggaberg aanland, moet hy sy leierskap onder die seuns in 'n tweegeveg met 'n nuwe leerder bewys en Trompie leer om die hand van vriendskap na 'n vyand uit te reik.
