Gameplay Overview

The core gameplay is a mix of action, puzzle-solving, and vehicle combat, all presented from a top-down perspective. The game leverages the DS's unique features, primarily using the stylus for combat and navigating menus. 

• Adventure Mode: This story-driven single-player campaign casts the player as a male or female System Monitor. The goal is to investigate power failures and a potential system meltdown. Gameplay involves light disc combat against various enemies, environmental puzzles, and platforming challenges, some of which require wall-running.
• Grid Games Mode: This mode allows players to jump into action-packed arena matches or races using iconic vehicles from the TRONuniverse.
• Persistent Progression: Players can earn new levels and unlock upgrades for their character in both single-player and multiplayer modes, enhancing abilities like healing or temporarily freezing time. 

Key Features

• Stylus Combat: The stylus is the primary tool for flinging the versatile light disc to battle enemies and interact with objects and switches.
• Vehicle Integration: The game features playable Light Cycles, Light Tanks, and Recognizers. The light cycle segments involve racing and strategically using the light trails to "derez" opponents.
• Local Multiplayer: Up to four players can compete locally via the DS's wireless connection in various cooperative and competitive modes, including a Capture the Flag variant and Last Man Standing. 

Story Context

The game's story is an interquel, providing backstory and context for the characters and world of Tron: Legacy. Players learn about the conflict surrounding the ISOS (spontaneously created programs) and the rise of the antagonist CLU 2. The DS version has a slightly different story from its console and PSP counterparts, making it a unique part of the overall TRONlore.
