Southern Hummingbird is the debut album by American R&B and soul singer–songwriter Tweet, released in the United States on April 2, 2002 by The Goldmind Inc. and Elektra Records. The album debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 chart with 195,000 copies sold in its first week,[4] preceded by the R&B number-one lead single "Oops (Oh My)". It was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) on April 30, 2002,[5] having sold 858,000 units in the U.S. to date.[6]
The album features production by Timbaland, Craig Brockman, Nisan Stewart, guitarist John "Jubu" Smith, and Tweet herself. It also featured guest vocals by Elliott, Bilal, and BeatClub Records' Ms. Jade, and included a bonus track performed by Elliott, "Big Spender", which samples the '60s classic of the same name. After the successful lead single, the album spawned another two, the Timbaland-produced "Call Me" and the radio single "Smoking Cigarettes", which had a video shot for it directed by Little X but was never released
